Shinrai Takekuki

The Sylie

~Within the Smithville Woods on the borders of the Hirasaki Preserve (local hengeyokai territory) stands a huge, hollowed-out oak. Dead for years, its mighty height was never toppled. Now it is home to one of the Damhan -- Shinrai Takekuki. Other brush and trees surround the great oak, and no holes or other entrances are readily apparent. No trails lead to this silent warden, only a forest floor colored in autumn. But a closer inspection reveals an indentation beneath one of the large surface roots. A small animal could perhaps come and go beneath, and perhaps burrow its way beneath as a result -- a man might even be able to crawl under, with effort. A sheaf of dead leaves lies beneath the root, though -- hiding the entrance to Shinrai's Sylie. Through this hole in the earth, one might travel into the giant, hollowed-out oak tree itself. It leads beneath and up within. The entire cavity of the tree is simply coated with silky cobwebs. Here and there lies the cocooned remains of some unfortunate rodent (or body part...). Daylight streams through tiny fissures in the oak here and there, providing minimal lighting in the cramped but efficient home, where the arachnid changer most often sleeps, feeds, and meditates.~

"Yum..."

Significant Other

The Kumoti was always snobbish when it came to his desire to mate. Only a beautiful and fresh girl like Aki Morgan would do. He seduced Aki, stealing her away from her parents and school. Aki grew convinced that Shinrai loves her dearly. Even after her Kumo heritage drew a Goblin Spider's attention, which prematurely ended her pregnancy with Shinrai's child, Shinrai rescued her. He wants her always as his mate. Of course, the Ananasi only truly loves his Queen. But as he considers the girl a gift from Ananasa, he does love Aki…in a round-about way. They will surely try for more children in the future, though marriage is an alien concept to the werespider. In 2006, Aki was impregnated again, and Shinrai guarded her well for the full term. On April 4th, 2007, she gave birth to Junko, a healthy Kinfolk -- Kin to the Kumoti, not the Goblin Spiders! Surely she would mother a new and vaunted line of servants for the Queen with Shinrai.
